A study published in 2010 reported that participants in a randomised trial experienced large improvements in symptoms listed on a clinically validated questionnaire. Also improvements to pain, sleep quality, depression and quality of life. These were maintained for six months and the they also cut back on their use of medication. There were no Tai Chi related adverse effects. "A Randomized Trial of Tai Chi for Fibromyalgia", C Wang et al, New England Journal of Medicine 363, no 8 (2010)

Elderly people are 37% less likely to be injured in a fall after exercises such as Tai Chi, and 67% less likely to suffer a fracture. (The British Medical Journal).
